We are impressed
by the Lepai Tripath TA2020 Class-T amplifier because of its
robust bass and engaging soundstage. Moreover it is one of the
few T-amps that has tone controls. It may be less "audiophile"
(less laid back, less tube like) than some T-amps but with its
good bass performance and tone controls it is a more listen-able
amp for intimate situations and low level listening. At the same
time, it is powerful enough to drive just about any loudspeaker
very loud. It rated at 20 watt a per channel into 4 ohms, about
15 watts per channel into 8 ohms. We have modified the amplifier
to enhance its bass performance and to improve the definition
of its soundstage. And we have enhanced its looks and usability
with a gorgeous Baltic white birch plywood cabinet and banana
connectors in the back. Additionally, we throw in a pair of six
foot speaker wires that enhance its performance. The wires are
terminated with banana plugs on one end and soldered wire at
the other. We have tested our modified amplifier against highly
regarded amplifiers, many times its price. Our conclusion is
that if you feed our Lepai Mod a quality signal, especially through
a DAC, it is an amazing little amplifier. |

The Model 12 is
very musical and it has exceptional bass response.

Makes a great full-range
center channel.
The
-10 dB frequency response of the Model 12 referenced to its 1
kHz response as an indication of it's in-room response, is an
incredible 30 Hz. Except for a 2.5 dB rise in bass response at
150 Hz, that is intended to give pitch definition to the mid
bass, the frequency response of the Model 12 is flat from 55
Hz to 20 kHz +/- 3.5 dB.
This speaker delivers real bass and large speaker performance
with the finesse of the Model 10S
This speaker
has a very similar presentation to the Model 10S, however, it has surprisingly nice, robust, extended
bass response, and high output, the kind you will not find in
a speaker of this size. Why, because the SEAS woofer, the same
kind used in the Model 10S, is known for its potent bass response
and given that we are using two of them in a larger cabinet,
this speaker has faster bass and better bass extension than most
speakers with 6.5 inch woofers. Plus this speaker is magnetically
shielded to allow it to be used very close to CRTs including
as a center channel loudspeaker. The ideal complement to the
Model 10S and Modl 25. |
